Who Is 'RHOP's Karen Huger?

by Marenah Dobin

I'm pretty pumped to see what Real Housewives of Potomac has to offer. I'm not gonna lie, at first I had no idea where Potomac even was, but now that I've done my homework, I'm interested to see the kind of drama and intrigue comes from this brand new series. Aside from learning about a new location, I am excited to "get to know" some new Real Housewives cast members. And one of the ladies who I can't wait to "meet" on Real Housewives of Potomac is Karen Huger.

If RHOP is anything like the other shows, I am bound to be hooked and become overly invested in these women's lives. I feel like they are all my friends. Yes, they are friends who don't know I exist, but that doesn't mean I care any less. And who doesn't want to have a new friend in her life? As for Huger specifically, she's not an aspiring entertainer (as far as I can tell anyway); she is just a regular wife and mom — well, as regular as someone could be who is married to a CEO in a wealthy Maryland community. Yes, this is nothing new for the Real Housewives franchise, but there is something else that really stood out to me about Huger. Bravo describes her as "the Luann de Lesseps of Potomac" and that is enough for me. I was immediately intrigued.

Here are some more facts to help you get to know Huger before the series premiere on Jan. 17.

She Is Literally A Real Housewife

Unlike many of the women in the franchise, Huger is actually a married woman. Her husband, Raymond, is the CEO of an information technology company, and the two have been married for 19 years.

She Is Dreading An Empty Nest

Huger is a mom to two kids. Her son, Brandon, is 27 and a graduate of two universities: Georgetown University and Morehouse College. Her daughter, Rayvin, is 17 and a senior in high school. Huger's story line is going to revolve around her difficulty letting go of her children now that her youngest child is about to leave the nest and go to college.

She Grew Up On A Farm

Huger did not always reside in the wealthy community of Potomac, Maryland. She is originally from Spring Grove, Virginia where she grew up on a farm.

She Is College Educated

According to her Facebook, she attended the University of Virginia.

She Loves To Throw Parties

The soon-to-be reality star loves to bring people together and throw lavish parties. She goes all out when it comes to the themes, and we all know that big social events are where all of the Real Housewives drama goes down, so I have a feeling that her parties will serve as the backdrops for some pretty great scenes.

She Is Not Into Social Media

I'm sure this will change with time, but Huger is not super into social media. She has a Twitter account and an Instagram, but as of this moment she hasn't passed 15 posts on either page. For someone who's signed up to be on a reality show, I figured she would have more to share, but like I said, I have a feeling this will change once RHOP starts airing.

She Is Charitable

Even though Huger isn't a social media aficionado, one thing is very clear from her few postings: She is a philanthropic person. She has been photographed supporting many charitable causes and I imagine this will be highlighted on RHOP as well.

She Puts An Emphasis On Etiquette

I am so excited to see how this factors into the show. Since Bravo dubbed her to be the Countess LuAnn of Potomac, I can only imagine how this part of her personality will play into the drama. Based on the trailer alone, it seems like Huger has some pretty high standards when it comes to the behavior she expects from her social circle.

From the small glimpse of information that I have, it's seems like Karen Huger is going to be a perfect fit for the Real Housewives franchise, and I cannot wait to see what she brings to the table on the new series.
