Remembering Ari's Victoria's Secret Wing Moment

I will never forget the moment I saw it for the first time. It was a relatively cool winter morning in Los Angeles. I was sitting at my dining table, drinking coffee, and catching up on the day's important news (i.e., scanning Twitter). I looked out the dining room window and noticed my neighbor walking his dog down the street. The small dog was wearing a comically bulky Santa costume. I laughed. I turned back to my Twitter newsfeed. And at that moment, my life was changed forever: I saw the instantly iconic picture of Ariana Grande dodging a wing at the 2014 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.

Unless you live underneath a giant, Internet-less pile of discarded VS Angel wings, you know the story: Last year, the ponytail'd vocal powerhouse was one of the musicians selected to grace the runway at the lingerie brand's annual television special. All was going according to plan... until Grande performed “Bang Bang." In the middle of the hit song, she accidentally collided with the enormous feather-trimmed wings worn by model Elsa Hosk. The "Focus" songstress reacted accordingly: she contorted her face with horror and scrambled to get out of the wing's way. Fortunately, no one was hurt. Unfortunately, this moment didn’t make the final televised cut.

But un-unfortunately, the moment did make it onto the Internet. And given that the 2015 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show (aka one of my favorite yearly holiday traditions) will air on CBS Tuesday night, I think now is the perfect occasion to wax nostalgic about one of my favorite VS Fashion Show memories. May this gorgeous memory never leave our hearts. And may this gorgeous photo never not be my phone's wallpaper.

I'm not sure any other VS Fashion Show moment will ever hold a Love Spell-scented candle to this moment.
