When Is 'Fresh Off The Boat' Back On TV?

by Lindsay Denninger

With the holidays comes some fun stuff — parties, a ton of food, presents, and time off from work and school. Unfortunately, it also means some time off from new episodes of your favorite television shows. Case in point? ABC’s hilarious sitcom Fresh Off The Boat is finishing up its fall season, and soon there will be no Jessica Huang to laugh at, no Eddie Huang to root for, and no Grandma Huang to secretly plan a friendship with. I can only go for so long without new chapters from my favorite television family. So, when does Fresh Off The Boat come back from hiatus?

Turns out, fans have to wait a little bit longer than most other shows. According to Entertainment Weekly, Fresh Off The Boat comes back from its winter hiatus on Tuesday, Feb. 2 at 8:30 p.m. That’s almost two months of a Huang-less existence! Also of note is that Fresh Off The Boat has a time change after the winter hiatus — As soon as The Muppets wraps up their season, Fresh Off The Boat will air at 8:00 p.m., not 8:30 p.m. And that time change starts Tuesday, Mar. 8. It’s all the same to me, so long as my DVR is set and I get a seat at Cattleman’s Ranch every Tuesday night.

Since I and other Fresh Off The Boat fans have plenty of time to dream up new story lines while the show is on hiatus, I thought I’d share a few of my own.

Jessica & Honey Become Real Estate Tycoons & Grandma Huang Forces A Hostile Takeover

Jessica and Honey definitely have the combined smarts and know-how to make this house-flipping business into something serious, Madam Xing or not. As soon as their first house sale is done, I’m going to guess that they expand — and quickly. After all, Jessica Huang knows how to get stuff done, you know? But don’t forget about Grandma Huang — if she at all feels squeezed out, she’ll take anyone in her path down. Remember, she’s cut out friends for giving her a bad gift.

Nicole Is Actually A Genius & Goes To College Early

Nicole, Honey’s stepdaughter and Eddie’s neighborhood crush, is all 1990s teenage attitude, but much like Xanthippe Lannister Voorhees on The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, I’m going to guess there’s a secret savant in there. What if Nicole is actually a genius and she leaves the neighborhood at 15 to attend Princeton? Or the University of Miami, if they want to keep her local. Will Eddie fall deeper in love with her brilliant mind and her stretchy black choker?

Louis Opens A Second Cattleman’s Ranch Location

Though the Huangs struggled a bit when they first moved to Orlando, Louis has gotten Cattleman’s Ranch up and running. It could be doing so well, in fact, that he can open up another location, just on the outskirts of Walt Disney World. All of those tourists exiting the park, hungry for something other than chocolate-dipped Mickey bars? That’s a cash cow (pun intended).

Emery & Evan Go Start Their Own Band

Always the poised and brilliant children, Evan and Emery would do better to shake things up a notch. I’m sure they’d pick up instruments fast, becoming the world’s first elementary school age piano-and-violin rock band. Even Eddie couldn’t argue with that kind of success.

What do you think will happen after Fresh Off The Boat comes back from winter hiatus? Guess we’ll have to wait until Feb. 2 to find out.
