This Couple's First Dance Was A Lightsaber Duel

Here’s a video of a couple performing a lightsaber duel as a first dance that will fill your nerdy heart with joy and have you instantly fantasy-planning the ultimate Star Wars-themed wedding. (Even I’m fantasizing about Star Wars-tastic nuptials now, and I’m, er… already married.) Instead of the traditional slow dance — which, let’s face it, is super awkward if, like me, the furthest extent of your dancing ability involves gracelessly shuffling back and forth from one foot to the other — bride Joeyblondewolf2 and groom thelegendaryraven chose to act out an epic lightsaber battle, much to the delight of their guests and Star Wars fans everywhere.

The video begins with the newlyweds walking onto the dance floor to do what the guests think is going to be a traditional first dance, but — SURPRISE TWIST — they pull out lightsabers instead. The bride’s green lightsaber coordinates with the ribbon around her waist (and aligns her with Luke Skywalker in Return of the Jedi), while the groom sports a red lightsaber — the color usually associated with dark Jedi. (Dun dun DUN!). The lights dim, the music starts, and the battle begins!

(Also, can we just take a moment to appreciate the bride’s kickass green Chucks?)

They fight fiercely (and with an impressive degree of coordination)...

Until finally ending the duel with a kiss:

D’aww. Just think how different the Star Wars universe would be if that’s how all lightsaber battles ended.
