An Unexpected Artist Just Dropped A Xmas Song
When you think of Fetty Wap, his hit songs like "Trap Queen" and "My Way" probably come to mind — but what probably doesn't come to mind is Christmas music. Well, that hasn't stopped this hip-hop artist from stating the original Mariah Carey-famed line, "All I Want For Christmas Is You," in his brand-new Christmas song, "Merry Xmas." That's right: Fetty Wap released his very own Christmas song. And it's actually not that bad! With this Fetty Wap featuring Monty and Ace Swag Beatz collaboration, you'll be ringing in the holiday season in a whole new way. And, in a way that you may not exactly be accustomed to — because, while the song does hold it's own merit, it isn't exactly what most people would think of when they think of a Christmas song.
The song, while still catchy, seems to be lacking in respect to jingle bells chiming or any sounds of sleighs going by in the background. In fact, this holiday song seems to be missing out on the entire point of holiday music: ringing in the holiday spirit element. But, although not what you would typically expect to hear, it does still brings all of the Fetty Wap you were expecting.
Does it actually have a chance of stealing the "All I Want For Christmas Is You" top Christmas song spot that Mariah Carey recently vacated, though? Listen and decide for yourself:
What did you think of Fetty Wap's take on Christmas music? While I may not add this to my holiday playlist, I would listen to it if it came on the radio (or if it was playing during any time of the year, since it doesn't really holiday that holiday season feel). But, on the flip side of things, there is no denying the lyrics themselves — because you can't really deny the holiday spirit in lyrics such as straight-forward as "Lighting up this Christmas tree/ Baby, come and get with me" and "Santa Clause / You can see him in the mall." It's all pretty legit.
The only question is: Will you listen to it everyday from here until Christmas Day? That, you need to decide for yourself.
