Memes About Hillary Being Late To The Debate

During Saturday's presidential debate, Hillary Clinton was late to return to the debate stage after a commercial break. Why was she tardy? Secretary Clinton was apparently delayed during an October debate as well, telling CNN host Anderson Cooper then, "You know, it does take me a little longer. That's all I can say." Is Clinton referencing how long it takes women to pee? Maybe she had to wait in a typically long line for the women's bathroom backstage. Make way for the potential future president, ladies.

It was odd to see the debate proceeding without one of the three candidates at her podium, and the Internet responded accordingly. Was it rude of the moderators to start without waiting for Clinton? Was it rude of Clinton to keep the moderators waiting? What was she doing back there — talking strategy? Going over numbers and talking points? Emptying her bladder?

The online masses of course erupted in tweets and memes about Clinton's tardiness, saying that now would be a good time for her to "fight for restroom equality" and that host David Muir should ask her if she had to go #1 or #2.

Clinton wasn't asked why she was late and she didn't explain it, simply saying a quick "sorry" and getting back to business.
