There's So Much To Know About Ariadna Gutiérrez

It was a spectacle that millions of viewers around the world couldn't believe, but for one woman, it was the moment when her dream was crushed. Last night's finale of the Miss Universe 2015 will go down as one of the most talked about moments in the pageant's history, with Miss Colombia finding out that the crown was not hers to win. So, who is Ariadna Gutiérrez, Miss Universe 2015's first runner-up? Not only does she deserve of more than what happened onstage last night, but she's also a gracious, loving, and inspirational woman to get to know.

But first, here's a quick recap of what happened during the announcement of the new Miss Universe last night. Host Steve Harvey mistakenly announced Miss Colombia as the winner, but it really was Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach who won the title. The world went nuts over the live television flub, especially the Filipino and Colombian fans. As last year's Miss Universe Paulina Vega removed the crown from Gutiérrez's head and placed it on Wurtzbach's, the telecast ended abruptly.

Even with all the pride and excitement that I felt after hearing that Wurtzbach won, my heart still broke for Gutiérrez. Upon learning more about her through her Miss Universe contestant profile and the dozens of news stories written following the show, I felt that she would have also made a wonderful Miss Universe. Of course, there can only be one winner last night (sorry, Mr. Trump), but if there is one good thing that came out of the whole situation, it's the way that Gutiérrez and Wurtzbach handled themselves gracefully and confidently during those truly difficult and life-changing minutes.

Even without a crown, the statuesque beauty has something even greater to celebrate this week — her birthday!

Gutiérrez is the youngest of five children and has the nickname "Beba."

Gutiérrez fluently speaks Spanish, German, and English.

4. She's a cat lady

Her other nickname from family and friends is "Cat Lady" because of her obsession with her pet kitties Abril and Gianni (as well as her dog).

5. She looks up to Princess Di

According to her contestant profile, Gutiérrez would have loved to meet one of her idols, Princess Diana.

Miss Colombia can't imagine living anywhere far from her family. She says that they motivate her each and every day.
