'My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2' Poster Is Here

by Jennifer Still

I don't know about you, but it certainly doesn't feel like nearly 14 years have passed since the theatrical release of My Big Fat Greek Wedding. However, it's true — the movie hit theaters in 2002, making me feel officially old. Giving a movie a sequel over a decade after the original movie's release might seem weird, but this is My Big Fat Greek Wedding we're talking about here, so I don't care if 50 years have passed — I want a follow-up. Thankfully, the My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 poster has been unveiled, cementing the sequel's release (I almost couldn't believe it before now) and proving once and for all that it's going to be amazing.

You'll notice right away that the entire Portokalos family seems to be back for the shindig, which is pretty awesome. The plot for the second movie revolves around Toula, played by Nia Vardalos, coming to terms with her daughter Paris becoming a teenager and wanting to go to school far away in order to get away from the family, while Toula's parents, played by the wonderful Lainie Kazan and Michael Constantine, discover that they never actually got married and decide to go through with their own big fat Greek wedding. Sounds pretty good, right?

What's great to see is that the sequel's poster is so close to the original movie's, leading me to believe even more that My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 will be a chip off the old block and closely linked with its predecessor, which is a smart choice on the filmmakers' behalf. After all, if a formula works, it makes sense to stick with it, right? And if you need any more proof of how good this is going to be, consider this: John Stamos is joining the cast this time around, too. Say no more!

The saddest news is that My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 won't be out until March 25, meaning we still have about three months to wait before we get to catch up with the wonderful Portokalos family. In the meantime, we'll have to settle for setting the movie poster as our desktop backgrounds and watching the movie's trailer to get excited for what's to come. Being patient is easier said than done, of course, but we can make it. We'll have to!
