Statement Skirts To Rock For New Year's Eve

by Eliza Florendo

Perhaps one of the biggest blunders of New Year's Eve is finding something to wear, and to do so quickly. But enter statement skirts, which beat out any party dress, wild jumpsuit, or matching separate that comes to mind. While I'm a minimalist at heart, there's just something about a bold look that truly brings in the new year with a much-needed bang. And with luxe fabrics totally trending right now (think velvet and suede), the statement skirt is definitely the way to go.

If you're a last-minute outfit planner like myself, chances are, you're still narrowing down options for the big night. For someone with such a big closet, there seems to be so little in there that will actually work. And while sequins are always appropriate for NYE, why not go with a different material? I'm thinking a killer plunging bodysuit, or on the opposite spectrum, a chic black turtleneck, with a totally wild skirt.

The beauty of a statement piece is that of course, it makes you stand out. It's the one night in the year when I'll actually wear something other than black (I'm not snobby about colors, I'm just lazy, to be honest). It's basically an excuse to wear your most lavish make up, hair, and accessories, so why not go all out? So here we are: Find my favorite statement skirts to count down the new year in style.

1. The Side Slit
