We've got our first fashion collaboration news for 2016 and it's a good one. Courtney Love and Nasty Gal are releasing an exclusive collection, which will be released early next year. The resurgence of '90s fashion might have peaked a few months ago, but there's no stopping the rock icon from bringing grunge style back on the market. Nasty Gal teased its upcoming collaboration on Instagram yesterday along with a throwback photo of Love.
"We’ve got a killer collaboration coming soon with one of the baddest bitches of all time. Any guesses?" The post immediately received mixed reviews, ranging from sheer excitement, to questioning the singer's relevancy, to outright rage at the thought of Love getting involved in anything fashion-related. Regardless of how you feel about her, there's no denying that Love had a huge influence on fashion (see: Saint Laurent Fall 2013) and young feminists today, and her evolution from Seattle grunge to Hollywood glamour remains one of the most talked about transformations in music history.
As part of the upcoming collaboration, Nasty Gal also announced an Instagram contest where the winner and a guest will be flown to L.A. for the VIP launch party, plus a $1,000 shopping spree.
While the collection is still under wraps, here's what I imagine the Courtney Love x Nasty Gal line has in store, based on her personal style:
1. A Slip Dress
Love combined her grunge aesthetic and red carpet glam with this iconic look.
2. A Tiara
The origins of Saint Laurent's "grunge tiara" can be traced back to Love.
3. A Cropped Sweater
From the pre-Hole Courtney style file.
4. A Baby Doll Dress & Mary Janes
Basically this whole look. Now, could a Hole reunion not be far behind?
