Prince George's First Day Of School OOTD VS. Mine

by Augusta Statz

They grow up so fast, don't they? Prince George started school in the most adorable fashion, and thankfully, photos were released so we could all enjoy his big day. Being that anyone’s first day of school is exciting, royal or no, I’m sure we all have a few photos documenting the day lying around somewhere. I know I did! And that’s exactly why I'm showing you my first day of school outfit versus Prince George’s. It was just too cute of an opportunity to pass up.

My mom was able to dig up photos of me starting kindergarten, so I’m not as young as little Georgie, but that first day’s a big one, no matter how old you are. I had to wear a uniform at my new school, so my color scheme is basically the same as the prince’s. He’s wearing a navy quilted barn jacket paired with a baby blue backpack. And while you can’t see his bottoms, I’m sure he’s rocking some shorts with socks pulled up to his knees because when you’ve got a look that works, why change it?

Check out how a normal person dressed for the first day of school versus how a member of the royal family did it. Surprisingly, there isn’t too much of a difference because kids are just kids, you know?

This tiny blue book bag is pretty stinkin' cool, if you as me.

His blue jacket is fashionable, yet functional because it's got to be fit for running around on the playground, after all.

The Supplies:

OK, so this is technically the day before the first day of school. So, consider this look a trial run. The supplies needed for a great back to school look: frizz free hair serum and a killer pencil case (and yes, I am hugging it). What can I say? I've always loved to write.

The Outfit:

I’m wearing a navy cardigan paired with a white tee and and a matching navy skirt. My scrunchie (it was the ‘90s, after all) is holding my curls into a high ponytail, and yes, it’s also the same shade of blue. Because matching is important. My socks happen to be pulled up rather high, too, because maybe I'm not that different from Prince George, after all.

My shoes aren't pictured, and I can't remember exactly which pair I wore. I am, however, certain that they had buckles. I was a big girl who could fasten her own shoes, and I loved buckling them all by myself.

Here I am posing for the camera. I am working it out with that high pony tail and scrunchie combo. '90s baby forever.

I truly believe that when you're wearing a great outfit, you are prepared for whatever comes your way. So, as far as I'm concerned — that first day of school had nothing on Prince George or me. Nothing a little navy ensemble couldn't handle, am I right?
