Most Awkward Golden Globe Red Carpet Moments

by Caitlin Flynn

The Golden Globes are an awards show dream come true for entertainment lovers because we get to see our favorite film and TV stars all in the same ceremony. And, it officially kicks off awards show season — which is definitely my favorite season. The Golden Globes are classy affair, but way less formal than the Oscars, which means there's the perfect combination of glamorous gowns and unpredictable moments. And, the unpredictability applies more than ever this year with Ricky Gervais hosting. But, the fun begins a whole two hours before the ceremony kicks off. As the many awkward moments of the Golden Globe red carpet prove, the shenanigans begin long before the celebs take their seats inside the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

The red carpet is about way more than "who are you wearing?" and listening to actors talk about how it's an honor just to be nominated. (Let's be honest — some of the best acting occurs at the awards shows themselves.) That's fun and all, but what I really look forward to is the head-scratching moments that leave viewers wondering what the heck these people were thinking.

1. Ross Mathews & Zuri Hall Reenacting The Titanic "I'm Flying!" Scene

Host Ross Mathews got a little overzealous about Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet both having nominations. In fact, he was so moved that he felt the need to reenact the "I'm flying!" scene from Titanic. Leave it to the pros, Mathews.

2. Amy Schumer Giving Way Too Much Information

You know I love you — but you really should have listened to your sister when she advised you not to address that vagina itch.

3. Amy Schumer's Dance Moves

But, she redeemed herself with these killer dance moves that were awkward in the best way possible.

4. Savannah Guthrie Totally Snubbing Matt Damon

Savannah Guthrie's interview with Matt Damon seemed normal, until she totally cut him off by saying "the clock really rules our lives and there are just a few minutes left until the Golden Globes begin." Meanwhile, NBC's onscreen clock reminded viewers that there were still 35 minutes until showtime. #Rude

5. Rami Malek's High School Crush On Kirsten Dunst

Turns out Rami Malek and Kirsten Dunst went to high school together — and he had a "little crush" on her. And, after much pressing from Giuliana Rancic, it looks like he may not be quite over it just yet.
