It's a sad day for a former Disney Channel star's family and friends. According to E! Online, Michael Galeota had died at the age of 31. The former actor, who appeared on Disney Channel original movie Clubhouse Detectives and the sports-centric TV series The Jersey, was declared dead on Sunday, Jan. 10. He reportedly passed away at his home in Glendale, Calif., and, according to the Los Angeles Coroner's Office, his death appears to be a natural one. As E! Online reports, Galeota had considerable health problems, though at this time any specific reason for his death is unclear. A full examination is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 12, which will likely confirm the cause of death for this young man.
Galeota's loved ones have started a GoFundMe page to raise money for the cost of his funeral services. The page raised over $11,000 in just five hours and is hoping to gather $25,000 in order to aid in the cost of Galeota's burial. 65 people have backed the GoFundMe page, including a "Shia L.," whom donated $5,000 and is speculated to be Shia LaBeouf, who starred on Disney Channel around the same time.
In addition to information about donations, the page features very kind words about Galeota and the kind of person that he was:
[Galeota's] humble nature hid a great compassionate and loving human being, with a huge heart. He cared profoundly for his family and friends. Mike was a great giver, always ready and able to care for others... Although his life was short, we are grateful and appreciate the experience of having been loved, and loved him in return, and for being in our lives. In our hearts and souls, he will always be with us.
An update from the page asks family and other loved ones to provide photos of Galeota, so a slideshow can be made for use at the funeral services.
