You can always count on MAC for totally fabulous and game-changing collabos, as the brand launches several per year. Whether it's a blockbuster partnership with Ariana Grande for its VIVAGLAM range or something more indie, hip, and fringe, like its upcoming collection with Poesia designer Chris Chang, MAC is always inclusive and on trend. MAC x Chang presents an "acid-soaked twist" and a "vivid kaleidoscope of cutting-edge color," which is inspired by the ancient Chinese art form Kunqu. The packaging is bold and bright — these are products you will want to display on your vanity and your face. So, when will MAC x Chris Chang be available?
Well, you will have to wait several months for it. The gorgeous collection, which will consist of 14 items, including eye shadow, lipstick, cream color base, and pressed powder, lands in May, which is over three months away. So you will have to get through the cold, harsh doldrums of winter first.
This collection is special due to the source of Chang's inspo. "My inspiration comes from the traditional aesthetics of ethnic tribes and costumes from various countries, as well as the transformative world of art," the designer said.
Chang put her perspective in context, which should have fashionistas who dig color, print, and are confident with their clothing choices, perking up!
There's nothing minimal about it; in fact, Chang takes pride in the fact that her designs and her MAC collabo are "maximalist."
Are you totally freaking out? Look at the stunning Asian-inspired pans. How about that blue x green lipstick? Or the yellow! These pops of color will chase any remaining winter and early spring dullness far, far away.
"My clothes are imbued with a supercharged drama both individualistic and childlike in its interpretation," Change explained in a press statement. "My designs are for women who are eccentric and confident. Color is the integral fuel of my imagination and the spirit M·A·C and I share. This collaboration is a dream come true for the maximalists of the world."
Leave it to MAC to put Chang on the map and expose her on a wider level, all the while providing its devotees with breathtakingly packaged products.
MAC's James Gager dubbed MAC x Chris Chang as a "playful, joyful and colorful collection."
I love that MAC has followed its mainstream partnership with Ariana Grande for VIVAGLAM with someone off the beaten path but equally as fascinating.
