Lucy Hale Isn't A Fan Of This Trend

by Augusta Statz

Aria’s quite the fashionable pretty little liar, but IRL, her style’s much less over-the-top. Because she’s not all over the place in terms of her fashion, she’s got a distinct style with a list of likes and dislikes. Lucy Hale hates leggings as pants, according to an interview with PopSugar. In fact, it’s a trend she’s sick of seeing. While I admire a woman who knows what she likes and doesn’t like, I’m definitely on board with the athleisure trend, so sorry, Hale, but we’re going to have to agree to disagree.

“[Leggings as pants are] my pet peeve,” she told PopSugar. “It's just, like, the proportion. When I wear leggings, my shirt has to cover my butt. I get annoyed when people wear leggings as pants.” And she’s on to something with the whole proportion thing, but they can work as pants if you’re able to get the top/bottom ratio just right.

Kendall Jenner is the perfect example of someone who’s able to make wearing leggings on any occasion work. And while Hale might not be behind the idea of it, there are plenty of people who are. Here’s a list of dos for the next time you wear your athleticwear as daywear. You’re your bottoms with these types of tops, and you’ll totally own the athleisure look. Because if you like strutting your stuff in tight bottoms, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that.

1. A Boxy Tee

Fila Cropped Turtleneck, $48, ASOS

A cropped turtleneck will give you that sleek, sporty look you were going for.

3. A Sweatshirt

It'd be hard not to look effortlessly cool in this, don't you think?

5. A Longline Top

A longline top of this kind will dress up any look, but still offer so much comfort, especially when worn with leggings.

6. A Slouchy Button-Down

I don't know about you, but I'd love to pair this with leggings and then head off the brunch. It's the perfect easy, breezy ensemble, you know?
