Do This When You Wake Up In The Morning

Over the years, I've become pretty dedicated about my morning beauty routine. However there is one specific thing that I'm super compulsive about: having lemon water in the morning. Even when I'm running late, I always make sure to have a glass knowing that it'll benefit me greatly throughout the day.

Why do I do this? Well, it basically completes everything I need to get me off to a good start in my day. Other than freshening your breath, boosting your immune system, and waking up your digestive tract, lemon water also does wonders for your skin.

According to The Huffington Post, drinking lemon water freshens your skin due to all the vitamin C in the drink mixture. And since we lose an incredible amount of water per day and don't drink water at night, what better way to rehydrate yourself than with a quick cup of lemon water in the morning? Not just that, lemon water is also full of antioxidants and helps repair damaged skin cells, according to StyleCraze. Need more convincing?

If a cup of coffee sounds more appetizing than a warm cup of lemon water, that's totally fine — you do you. There are still many other ways to keep your skin hydrated throughout the day:

Apply Moisturizer To Your Face

Another way to ensure your skin stays hydrated throughout the day is to apply moisturizer to your skin in the morning. Overnight, your skin can become extremely parched. Give your face some love with a hydrating moisturizer — especially one with SPF in it!

Drink Plenty Of Water

Even if you don't want to drink lemon water in the morning, drinking water throughout the day is honestly the best thing you can do to make sure your skin looks fresh. According to the Mayo Clinic, women should get about 2.2 liters a day — that's approximately 9 cups.

Keeping A Humidifier On At Night

Although this isn't exactly something you can in the morning, keeping a humidifier on at night while you sleep can help hydrate your skin, making you feel fresh and rejuvenated the next day. The Huffington Post explains, "When used correctly, humidifiers can help to alleviate dry skin, chapped lips, nose bleeds, and other pesky cold-weather conditions." So note to self: Invest in a humidifier.
