Donald Trump Won't Be In The Fox News Debate

by Celia Darrough

In a new episode of what can only be described as The "I'm Rich and Needy, Pay Attention To Me" Show, Donald Trump reportedly won't attend the Fox News debate on Thursday, his campaign manager said. After saying he "likely" wouldn't attend, Trump has apparently made it official. And, get this: Do you want to know the reason why he says he won't go? No, it's not because Rand Paul made it back on the primetime debate stage. It's because of Megyn Kelly.

Trump released a video on Instagram asking his followers if he should do the GOP debate, saying, "Megyn Kelly's really biased against me. She knows that; I know that; everybody knows that. Do you really think she can be fair at a debate?" Oh, and he's polling his Twitter followers, too.

Now, whether this is just a stunt to get attention before coming back tomorrow and saying, "Just kidding, I'll totally be there," is yet to be seen. Is Trump really going to miss the chance to spew his views to millions of people? Well, maybe. He told a group of reporters, "Let's see how much money Fox is going to make on the debate without me," before adding "It's time that somebody plays grown-up."

If that last bit sounds laughable when you think about it coming from a grown man who just polled his Twitter followers on whether or not he should attend an event because he thinks a female journalist has been mean to him, well, that's probably because it is.

In any case, the rest of the candidates on the primetime stage are probably either rejoicing because they'll likely be able to have a more civilized debate or mourning because, in all honesty, not as many people will tune in to see the event. But Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Ben Carson, Jeb Bush, Chris Christie, John Kasich, and Rand Paul will surely have enough things to say that would keep the showdown lively in Trump's absence (if he sticks to his decision — remember, he's threatened to do this before). We will see. We. Will. See.
