Zayn Jumps On The Euphemism Train For "Pillowtalk"

by Caitlyn Callegari

Sometimes song titles are misleading. This? This is not one of those times. Zayn Malik's sultry new song is titled "Pillowtalk" and let me tell you, nothing has ever been more appropriate. If you somehow aren't catching my drift and are wondering what "Pillowtalk" is about, don't worry, because I am going to tell you. In detail. Fair warning though: remember you were the one who asked.

I feel like we should start this off by defining what, "pillow talk" means in the first place. The definition of "pillow talk" is "intimate conversation in bed." Which, yeah, anyone could have guessed, but while this song encompasses that definition, it goes beyond that, too.

Before I go any further, please keep your legs and arms inside the euphemism vehicle at all times. Are you buckled in and ready? OK. The very first line of the song is, "Climb on board," and, no, he is not talking about a bus or a sailboat, he's talking about himself. And it just really only gets more suggestive from there.

Basically, "Pillowtalk" is about an "intimate conversation in bed." But this intimate conversation is about all of the other incredibly intimate things he and the person he's pillow talking to have done and will do together against that pillow. For example, he sings,

I'm seeing the pain, seeing the pleasureNobody but you, 'body but me, 'body but usBodies together.

I love to hold you close, tonight and alwaysI love to wake up next to youI love to hold you close, tonight and alwaysI love to wake up next to you

Which, is sort of sweet in a decidedly sexy way. But, honestly, despite those more affectionate lyrics, the song isn't just about romance. No sir. If the chorus of the song is any indication, "Pillowtalk" seems to be much more about the passion of the act itself than it is about cuddling.

I mean, just take a look at the chorus:

So we'll piss off the neighborsIn the place that feels the tearsThe place to lose your fearsYeah, reckless behaviorA place that is so pure, so dirty and rawIn the bed all day, bed all day, bed all dayF*cking and fighting onIt's our paradise and it's our war zoneIt's our paradise and it's our war zone

If you haven't figured it out yet, it's about sex, guys. It's a really catchy, detailed song about sex — pre, during, and post doin' it with someone you're really into.
