Felicity Receives A Massive Shock On 'Arrow'

Arrow has been known to drop its fair share of bombshells on its characters (sometimes quite literally), but Wednesday night's episode "Unchained" succeeded in delivering a particularly action-packed blow when it confirmed the theory that Felicity's father is Arrow 's latest Big Bad known as The Calculator. Of course, we figured the former Mr. Smoak (or rather, Noah Kuttler) was bound to pop up eventually, given the few strategical times Felicity has mentioned him, though we were never quite sure in what capacity. So making him a criminal, tech savvy mastermind offers up an especially interesting twist to Star City's ongoing drama.

However, I doubt as though Felicity will share my level of enthusiasm over this impromptu family reunion. And why should she? From everything Felicity's told us, her father was never there for Felicity or her mother, so having him suddenly reemerge, especially after she's been through so much, is really the last thing she needs to be dealing with right now. Not that she knows that he's her nemesis The Calculator, of course. He just came to see her big presentation at Palmer Technologies. But it's only a matter of time before she figures it out and I have a sneaking suspicion that he is not as in the dark about identities as she is. So the only question that remains is: what's going to happen now?

Given what we've seen so far, these two are pretty evenly matched in the tech department (like father, like daughter, right?), but what are Noah's plans in regards to his daughter? Will her use her to get the Palmer Tech battery? (I doubt he was just there for moral support.) Does he have a good reason for his bitterness toward Star City or is he just like the other villains who want to take it down for... reasons?

There is so much left to explore with this character, and considering that next week's episode is titled "Sins of the Father," I think we'll definitely get our chance and find out his mysterious backstory once and for all.
