'The Flash' May Need Help From Very Familiar Faces
There were a lot of things I expected to happen in this episode, but honestly, Barry getting kidnapped by Zoom on The Flash was not one of them. Although, I suppose that was silly of me. After all, Zoom is running back and forth between two worlds for the dude. I digress. The thing is, in this week's episode, Deathstorm critically hurts Barry before taking his final evil bow (ugh, RIP again, Robbie Amell) and though Zoom isn't pleased about it, it does give him a leg up. Barry can't even fight back before the villain snatches him.
The upside to Barry being kidnapped, other than the always intriguing suspense, is that Barry gets to meet Earth-2 Harrison Wells' daughter, Jessie. However, at the moment, she is not as pleased to see The Flash as one might have thought. Still, it's cool, because Barry is used to mixed reactions, and he assures her that he is going to get her out of there. But, Zoom being a total mood killer per usual, tells Barry that he shouldn't make promises he can't keep and that Zoom's prison is the last thing he's ever going to see. I'm not too worried, though, we Flash fans know better than this. Of course Barry is going to get out of there, he's the freakin' Flash. It's just a matter of how, really.
By the looks of the preview for next week's episode (above), the Earth-2 doppelgangers may just be the answer. While Killer Frost still looks to be doing frosty things in the beginning of the promo, by the end, we see the rag tag crew of Earth-1 and Earth-2 peeps seemingly working together. And, if you noticed, when Killer Frost was called "Caitlin" in this episode, it seemed to strike a nerve. You know, other than her totally trashing the name, which I, as a fellow Caitlyn, may have taken slight offense to. (It's OK. There are bigger fish to fry, here.)
Other than that one inkling of a connection to Earth-1 Caitlin, we also see Killer Frost get upset when Ronnie dies, which shows that she's capable of compassion and love, even in a twisted way. And, while Cisco's Earth-2 doppelganger, Reverb, is also pretty evil, he does seem to have a soft spot for his Earth-1 counterpart. So, will Cisco appeal to their humanity and get them to help save Barry? Will Wells? If they do save Barry, will they get the chance to save Jessie, too? I don't know about you, but I'm already stressed just thinking about all of the things that could go wrong on The Flash next week — and all of the doppelgangers who could potentially turn against the characters we know and love.
