Kanye West Isn't Afraid To Spend A Ton Of Money

by Allyson Koerner

Kanye West didn't even attend Monday night's 2016 Grammys, but that doesn't mean he isn't making headlines. The rapper went on another Twitter rant Tuesday, in which he tried to explain his claim that he's $53 million in debt. The rapper isn't backtracking on anything he's declared about his finances, but says he wants to be open about his "struggle" with money and facing a "personal debt." Seeing as West has a reported net worth of $145 million, his so-called debt might not make sense to some, but if you look at his spending habits, that's a different story. Basically, Kanye West has spent a ton of money on all kinds of ridiculous items and luxuries that could explain it.

For those who need a refresher, on Valentine's Day Yeezy tweeted, "I write this to you my brothers while still 53 million dollars in personal debt... Please pray we overcome... This is my true heart..." He even hit up Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg for $1 billion, which added more confusion to the already strange situation.

From that moment on, the 38-year-old rapper just let it all flow out on Twitter. Now, everyone is analyzing his words, his finances, and even his spending habits. Could he really be that much in debt? Well, if you look at how he's reportedly spent his money, yeah, it's a possibility.

With that, let's check out some of the times West reportedly threw down a ton of money.

He Takes His Haircuts Very Seriously

In 2015, Heat magazine reported that West spent $500 a day for haircut while touring with Rihanna in 2010. Actually, it was Rihanna's father, Ronald Fenty, who spilled the beans. "I don’t understand how that much hair gets taken off," Fenty said. "Kanye just loves the fresh look." Per Maxim, if West doesn't skip a haircut all year, his "fresh look" comes to a total of $182,550. No word if he still spends this much on haircuts, but it wouldn't surprise me.

He Goes Way Overboard On Christmas Presents

Remember that time West got Kim Kardashian 150 presents for Christmas 2015? Yeah, that definitely is ridiculous. Kardashian revealed during one of her Skype live stream events, "He sent his assistant to Italy and shopped via Skype." Some of her presents included a rainbow-hued fur coat, a Louis Vuitton dress, and a Prada jumpsuit. Yeah, those definitely aren't inexpensive gifts. FYI, the above gift is from 2013, but it's apparent that West has been going over the top on Kardashian's Christmas gifts for some time now.

There Is No Spending Cap On Kimmy's Presents

Like with her Christmas presents, there is clearly no spending limit when it comes to Kardashian's presents. For example, he rented out an entire movie theater for the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star's 35th birthday. There was even a special viewing of Steve Jobs, starring Michael Fassbender and Kate Winslet. I'm sure the party cost a pretty penny. Also, let's talk about that wall of roses (above) he bought for her on Mother's Day. Seriously, Kanye?

He Prefers Armored Vehicles

Forget a Rolls Royce or any other type of luxury car a celebrity might be spotted driving, because West seemingly prefers armored vehicles. In 2013, it was reported by the Daily Star that West spent $1.2 million on armored vehicles for Kardashian and their daughter, North West. Apparently, the vehicles were "inspired by the President's Limo One."

Jay Z Only Gets The Best

Per Vibe, for Jay Z's first Father's Day in 2012, West purchased a $34,000 golden skull. It was reportedly covered in 24-karat gold and even had red topaz gems. Obviously, nothing says Happy Father's Day than a ridiculously expensive skull, right?

His Watches Can't Have A Plain Face

A regular, old Rolex doesn't do the trick. When it comes to watches, West wants the best. HipHopDx reported in 2011 that West spent $180,000 for a watch with his face on it. Apparently, Tiret created the custom watch, which reportedly featured "8 carats of brown, white, yellow, and black diamonds arranged into the shape of the rapper’s face." Who doesn't want to keep of track time with their face?

His Kids Deserve The Most Expensive Items Possible

Obviously, West only wants his children to have the best. Take his eldest, North. In 2014, Heat magazine reported (via RadarOnline) that North's Christmas presents totaled $74,000. He seemingly spent $62,000 on a "diamond-encrusted tiara" for "dress-up." I don't know about you, but that's how I always played dress-up. I can only imagine how much West is spending on Saint.

Of course, not all of these purchases are confirmed, but if true, West's $53 million debt definitely starts to sound more reasonable.
