Former 'Bachelor' Contestant Passes Away

On Tuesday, TMZ reported that former Bachelor contestant Alexa "Lex" McAllister has died of an apparent suicide in Columbus, Ohio. Law enforcement sources reportedly told TMZ that a 911 call came in on Saturday, Feb. 13 at around 2 p.m. The call allegedly said that McAllister "had apparently OD'd on prescription pills." Update: On May 10, E! News reported that they obtained the coroner's report for McAllister, which shows her cause of death as "acute intoxication by the combined effects of amlodipine and acetaminophen in the manner of suicide," according to E!.

One of McAllister's family members reportedly spoke with TMZ and said that she suffered from both depression and bipolar disorder. According to Zap2it, McAllister was only 32 years old. TMZ also reports that she was transported to the hospital on Saturday, where she was in stable condition. However, her family reportedly said that her body began to shut down. She was reportedly taken off of life support and died on the morning of Tuesday, Feb. 16.

For those who don't recall, McAllister appeared on Season 14 of The Bachelor, which featured Jake Pavelka. In the end, he proposed to Vienna Girardi. However, like most couples on the ABC series, they didn't last. Pavelka broke up with Girardi over the phone, as he told People in 2010. As for McAllister, she was eliminated after the first week.

At this time, no other details have been released about McAllister's death.
