She can't wait, either! Anna Kendrick has given some details about Pitch Perfect 2, and she's so excited about the sequel to 2012 blockbuster, that she signed on without a script. So she's in, she's pumped, but she doesn't know much more than that. She joked to E! News: "I can see it picking up in the year 3000 when we're all cryogenically frozen [...] and our voices are digital and we're breaking the sound barrier."
The singer behind the cover of "Cups," the song that's been in your head for a year and a half (in the good way), is slated to reprise her role of Becca of the all-female a cappella group, The Barden Bellas. Skylar Astin is also going to reprise his role as Jesse, and the actor told US Weekly that he's also psyched to get back on board. Rebel Wilson is also back as Fat Amy, and she hilariously tweeted "@Anna Kendrick & myself: 2 Girls, 1 CUPS, in Pitch Perfect 2 x." So it looks like a full cast reunion!
One big behind-the-scenes change, though: Elizabeth Banks will direc t! The Hunger Games actress who also played a judge in the a capella competition circuit in the original Pitch Perfect, will be making her directorial debut with the movie. A big shout out to Banks, 'cause who doesn't LOVE IT when an awesome actress gets to go behind the scenes and make stuff happen? Lady power at its finest.
No word on the music set, but fans of Kendrick's gorgeous voice will get to hear her sing before the movie comes out next year. She'll be playing Cinderella in the big-screen adaption of Into The Woods opposite Johnny Depp, Meryl Streep, Chris Pine, and Emily Blunt. The musical will be helmed by Rob Marshall, and is set to arrive in theaters on Christmas Day.
Til then, you'll have to resort to re-watch parties and assembling your own all-lady a cappella groups...
