Bobbi & Hunter Left 'AoS' For Their Own Adventure

by Molly Freeman

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. may have bid farewell to the two agents most likely to be voted both Worst Couple and Best Couple by their coworkers, but just because they're gone doesn't mean they're forgotten. So, will Bobbi and Hunter return to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. at some point down the line, or are they doomed forever to live their lives as ex-spies? Sure, theoretically there's a possibility that Bobbi and Hunter could return to the S.H.I.E.L.D. fold at some point since neither of them were killed, but as most things are in life and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it's more complicated than that. Update: According to The Hollywood Reporter, ABC will not move forward with Bobbi and Hunter 's spinoff, Marvel's Most Wanted.

Earlier: First off, let's recap what exactly happened. Bobbi and Hunter were on a mission for S.H.I.E.L.D. in Russia, but they got caught. Since S.H.I.E.L.D. technically doesn't exist anymore (aka it's a huge secret again) Director Coulson and the President of the United States were forced to claim they had no connection to Bobbi and Hunter or else risk a Cold War situation with Russia. So what does that mean? Basically, Bobbi and Hunter had to leave S.H.I.E.L.D. and pretend they aren't and never were spies because their cover was blown and there isn't much that's worse for a spy than having their cover blown. Remember Burn Notice? It's sort of like that.

Now, if you're wondering where exactly Bobbi and Hunter are off to following their emotional spy's goodbye from their fellow S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, I've got an answer: Marvel's Most Wanted. That's the name of the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. spinoff starring Bobbi "Mockingbird" Morse and Lance Hunter in the works at ABC. Here's the synopsis for Marvel's Most Wanted according to Deadline:

[Marvel's Most Wanted] centers on Bobbi Morse (a.k.a. Mockingbird) and Lance Hunter of “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," two ex-spies and ex-spouses who are on the run with no friends, no S.H.I.E.L.D. and a long list of enemies looking to claim a bounty on their heads. Able to trust no one but each other, Bobbi and Hunter form an uneasy alliance with Dominic Fortune, a rogue adventurer with a wealth of resources and even more adversaries, who agrees to protect them so long as they help him with his own agenda. These two heroes will help anyone in need, all while trying to uncover the conspiracy that put their own lives in jeopardy.

So, while Coulson and the rest of his agents at S.H.I.E.L.D. continue to fight their battle with Hydra and search for new Inhumans to add to the Secret Warriors, Bobbi and Hunter will be on their own adventure on Marvel's Most Wanted.

Does that mean Bobbi and Hunter will never return to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.? Not necessarily. As we've seen with all corners of the MCU, there's room for crossover. But, as it stands right now with the predicament these two have landed themselves in, it's going to be a long time before they can even show their faces near any other S.H.I.E.L.D. agents. Still, those of us already missing Bobbi and Hunter at least have Marvel's Most Wanted to look forward to. A whole show dedicated to this beautiful bickering couple, doesn't that sound perfect?
