Chris Kattan Arrested for DUI

by Ivy Jacobson

Come on Mango, say it ain't so. SNL alum and actor Chris Kattan was reportedly arrested on suspicion of DUI early Monday morning in Encino, Calif. Going westbound, Kattan's car allegedly hit a Department of Transportation vehicle on the 101 Freeway in Los Angeles. The 43-year-old actor's Mercedes-Benz 2011 sedan was weaving in and out of traffic lanes around 2 a.m., according to the Associated Press.

Police first responded to a 911 call from a woman who reported that the Mercedes was weaving throughout the highway at a dangerously slow speed. Kattan crashed into a road closure and struck a DOT truck from the back, reports the California Highway Patrol. The Caltrans vehicle belonged to workers repairing a guardrail. No injuries were reported.

Law enforcement officials reported that Kattan exited the Mercedes on his own. A video was also taken of Kattan's arrest, and shows the A Night at the Roxbury actor not being able to walk in a straight line during a field sobriety test that he reportedly failed. His head is down, and his arms are crossed over his chest. Kattan's vehicle, which has front-end damage, is also seen being loaded onto a tow truck. The DOT vehicle was also damaged. Multiple orange cones that Kattan hit, signs, and flashing light warning arrows marked the location on the freeway where the crew was working.

There was nobody in the truck during the crash. Kattan's rep has not released a statement yet.

Kattan was arrested on the scene and booked into the Van Nuys jail, and the situation is still developing.

His arrest is truly disappointing and sad, as Kattan should know better and could have fatally injured the workers or other drivers.

The actor is best known for being a regular SNL cast member from 1996 to 2003, whose most popular character was Mango. Kattan has a few films coming out this year, including Walk of Fame with Scott Eastwood.
