Eddie Redmayne — or, as you and I should start referring to him as from here on out, Newt Scamander — will premiere a sneak peek of Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them at the 2016 MTV Movie Awards on April 10. While we can't expect anything too magical to happen (i.e. an early showing of the entire film), it's probable that this clip will reveal some much needed information about the highly anticipated trilogy's first installment. I say probable because there are so many questions that need to be addressed, and, though it's only fair that a level of mystery be upheld until the film actually premieres, fans are getting antsy. So what can expect from the impending Fantastic Beasts exclusive clip? Hopefully some answers.
That being said, here's what we do know: Fa ntastic Beasts is the story of Newt Scamander, a magizoologist (person who studies magical creatures, obviously). Upon a trip to New York City in the 1920s, Newt accidentally lets some fantastic beasts escape his magical suitcase (where he stores said magical creatures, obviously). This is terrible for dear Newt because, one, he's supposed to keep a hold of these creatures, and, two, the No-Majs (North American Muggles) are now privy to the beasts. Newt has to remedy his rather large mistake with the help of a Magical Congress of the United States of America worker Porpentina "Tina" Goldstein, her sister Queenie, and No-Maj Jacob Kowalski.
That's where we are in terms of Fantastic Beasts knowledge, but, as you can probably gather, there are still huge parts of the puzzle that need to be addressed. Here are the gaps we hope MTV's exclusive clip will fill — at least partially.
1. Why Did Newt Choose America?
We know that the Ministry of Magic has commissioned him to write the textbook Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, but is he just in America for research? Of all the places to find fantastic beasts, America might not be the destination I would choose, but hey. Maybe there's more at play here.
2. What Do The Beasts Look Like?
I would settle for just seeing the paw of one. If they even have paws. (What if they don't have paws?!)
3. Are The Beasts Big Or Small?
Or both? And which is more terrifying?
4. How/Why Did Newt Leave The Suitcase Open?
You'd think he'd be more diligent, just saying.
5. How Do They Fit In The Suitcase?
I'm assuming he probably uses the same thing Hermione did in Harry Potter and The Death Hallows. That is, an Undetectable Extension Charm. But I will not rest until I get confirmation.
6. Where Do U.S. Witches And Wizards Attend School?
OK so it's honestly not that important of a question to the story in general, but as an American citizen I need to know. Where is Ilvermorny? Where is it located, JKR?!
7. Will There Be A Villain And Will We See Him/Her?
I'm not holding my breathe for any Voldemort type situations, but would settle for something along the lines of Dolores Umbridge.
And the last and final question: When can we see it all go down? At least we have an answer to this one. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will be (finally) out November 18, 2016.
