The Best Quotes From The 2016 MTV Movie Awards

The Academy Awards have plenty of memorable moments, but there's nothing like seeing movie stars swap the gowns and tuxedos for a chill environment every once in a while. The MTV Movie Awards give everyone a chance to let loose for a change, which usually results in the someone saying something hilarious. Below are the best quotes from the 2016 MTV Movie Awards in case you forgot to live-tweet them this year — or just want to reminisce about the good times.

The MTV Movie Awards, which were pre-taped on Saturday, provide that in spades when they honor the movies you probably didn't have to challenge yourself to see last year. They are populist in the best way possible. Let's finally give some love to Jurassic World and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, shall we? The stress is gone too, so this is more of a celebration of the year that was at the movies.

Plus, with Kevin Hart and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson hosting, you know it's gonna be good — if a little raunchy compared to other awards shows. Between bits from presenters, acceptance speeches, and jokes that you definitely don't want to forget, here are the best quotes from this year's event.

"The story of Fury Road is, in part, a story of the power of women and the power to create our own destinies."

Charlize Theron took home an award for Mad Max: Fury Road, (finally) accompanied by her very own war boys.

"Did anyone vote? I dunno."

Amy Poehler, who won for Best Virtual Performance — though she's also going to pretend that the award is for Parks and Recreation as well as her off-camera commercial break dance moves — was happy to win, though she wasn't quite sure who actually gave her the award.

"Chris Evans, Superman & Batman are gonna slap you back into The Fantastic Four."

OK, I wasn't super into this "DC versus Marvel" bit, but The Rock's Captain America joke was pretty funny.

"Surround yourself with people that motivate you."

He went on, but O'Shea Jackson Jr.'s words at the end of the acceptance speech for Straight Outta Compton were about friendship and got way inspirational.

"I'm The Karate Kid's Dad"

Will Smith, in his acceptance speech for the "Old *ss Dude Award," also known as the Generation Award.

"Anal beads aside..."

Nobody covers up an awkward Jared Leto moment better than Margot Robbie, apparently.

"There are certainly a few nuns from my old high school back in Illinois that are pretty surprised right now by the use of the word 'genius' in conjunction with my name so, take that Sister!"

Melissa McCarthy's Comedic Genius award was chock full of memorable moments and quotes, but this one is my fave.

"F*ck the First Order"

Who guessed that Samuel L. Jackson and Alexander Skarsgård would have the best bit? The more Force Awakens jokes, the better, in my opinion.

"The reason I'm standing up here is because of you guys, and we had blast working on this movie, but it wasn't all unicorns and cocaine."

Dance numbers and all, Ryan Reynolds really cares about Deadpool , guys.

"It feels especially amazing to be a part of a film that represents all genders — two genders — all races, and all ages in such a positive and aspirational way."

Finally, Daisy Ridley got the best (early, as the MTV Movie Awards were taped Saturday night) birthday present of all, and said some lovely things about The Force Awakens to boot.

Did you catch all these quotes? The MTV Movie Awards certainly didn't disappoint when it came to memorable one-liners.
