Last week was big —huge, actually!— for celebrity makeup collabs. Rihanna's team announced her Fenty By Rihanna Beauty range, which is coming in Fall 2017. Then RiRi's BFF Katy Perry and COVERGIRL confirmed a collection. Perry has been the face of the drugstore cosmetics brand for several years and has upped the ante by designing her own branded products. The Katy Kat Mattes are the first item to launch and the color-rich lipsticks are capitalizing on the current matte lip trend and are being offered in a variety of Perry-approved hues.
These matte lippies come in stick form, as opposed to liquid, and they look amazing and affordable, provided you can actually score a few tubes, as they are limited edition and available for pre-order via Walmart before arriving in stores in May.
The brand spent much of Coachella weekend sharing photos of the white tubes and teasing the shades on its official Insta. There are 11 Katy Kat Mattes and they all look insanely wearable. Of course it's always optimal to be able test colors on the back of your hand or your actual lips to see how a lipstick shade pairs with your skintone and natural lip color. But honestly, every time I look at the KKMs, I think they all look gorgeous and worth the spend based on the images alone.
Let's see them IRL, though.
Observe Perry, her pals, and their lipstick-promoting pouts. So many cool colors.
Pretty in pink at Coachella. This snap has me thinking about what accessories I could wear the KKMs with. That's the fashion and beauty power of IG.
I dig the hearts on the packaging.
Because who doesn't love a good swatch swipe? It appears that the KKMs really do cover the entire shade spectrum.
The teases! If you haven't already signed up for the pre-order, which runs through May 1, these snaps should propel you to do so.
It's about time Perry put her signature stamp on COVERGIRL products. Yes, she is amazing as the face of the brand. But she is a style influencer and her fans want to copy her look as closely as possible. The Katy Perry x COVERGIRL collection illustrates that.
I cannot wait to see the rest of the line.
