7 Plus Size Outfits Inspired By 'Real Housewives'

by Courtney Mina

If you're a lover of reality TV, then you've probably been keeping up with the lives and dramas of the housewives in Bravo's popular series, The Real Housewives. We fans of the show just can't seem to get enough of the glamorous lifestyles, the emotional spectacles, and, of course, Real Housewives inspired fashion. I mean, when you're on a high-profile reality show and have a massive amount of wealth, I guess looking like a million bucks is pretty doable.

I've been a loyal watcher of The Real Housewives since it first aired back in 2006 with The Real Housewives Of Orange County. Since then, I've been following the lives of all the housewives from all over the globe. And if there's one thing I've noticed about them all, it's that they each have an absolutely stunning sense of style. These babes love their labels, glamour, and bling: Their mantra being "spend big, look fabulous, or go home."

However, it's quite disappointing that there is a lack of plus size housewives within the franchises. I know plus size housewives exist, but it'll probably be some time before we see a confident, proud, fatshionable one grace our TV screens. Until then, we can use the styles of these glamorous women to bring a little pizazz to our own lives. So let's take a look at seven plus size outfits inspired by some of our favorite real housewives.

1. Erika Girardi

Erika "Jayne" Girardi is one of the newest housewives on The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills. Although she may be new to the group, she quickly asserted herself as my favorite housewife of all time. Not only is she absolutely stunning, but she's confident, proud, playful, intelligent, and genuinely doesn't care about other people's judgements.

A lawyer's wife by day, a club entertainer by night, Girardi fearlessly expresses all aspects of her personality (including her inner sex kitten) with the way she lives her truth. And she looks damn good while doing it.

Bodyfit Jumpsuit with Fringing, $19, A sos

To bring a little Erika Jayne into your own life, one must own a sexy, slinky black catsuit. Girardi is famous for wearing catsuits on stage while performing her "pat the puss" dance move, bringing a whole new meaning to the term "sex kitten."

"Cunt" Necklace, $20, My Charm Offensive

Girardi is known for not only loving the word "cunt," but also coining the phrase "feeling cunty." Rather than finding the term offensive, she is empowered by it — proudly wearing it on a necklace in several episodes. If you're looking to bring a little Erika Jayne attitude into your own ensemble, then this will be the perfect accessory.

2. Lisa Vanderpump

Ah, Lisa Vanderpump. As we see on The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills, Vanderpump is a wealthy restaurant owner, animal enthusiast, and a lover of everything pink. And when I say everything, I mean everything — whether it's decorating with pink flowers and accents in her home, sipping tea from a pink teacup, drinking her favorite rosé wine, or simply adorning herself from head to toe in the hue.

Nicolette Mason The Gabi Cape Dress, $30, Additionelle

This pink cape dress absolutely screams Lisa Vanderpump. Not only is it pink, but the cut is feminine, classic, and professional, and the cape adds an element of royal flare that's perfect for the queenly style of this housewife.

"Lisa" Earrings, $49, H ouse Wives Jewelry

As Lisa Vanderpump is often seen absolutely dripping with diamonds, giant diamond earrings (or in this case, Swarovski Crystal earrings specifically inspired by the lady herself) are a must-wear.

3. NeNe Leakes

NeNe Leakes, Real Housewives Of Atlanta OG, broadway star, and fan favorite is known for her notorious "reads" and hilarious one-liners. In recent years, Leakes has seriously stepped up her style game as well, serving us one fabulous jumpsuit after another.

Little Mistress Plus Lace Bodice Jumpsuit, $43, Asos

If you're looking to bring a little NeNe Leakes into your life and wardrobe, then you must start with a fabulous jumpsuit that you can wear while you're waving to all your haters.

Hoops I Did It Again Fringe Earrings, $25, Nasty Gal

Since Leakes has been rocking short hair for the past several seasons, statement earrings have been one of her favorite accessories to sport, particularly hoops. These hoop earrings with a fringe accent will be the perfect addition to your NeNe Leakes-inspired look.

4. Gina Liano

Gina Liano, barrister and self-proclaimed "ultimate drag queen" from The Real Housewives Of Melbourne, has a style that is feminine, sexy, and oozing with glitz and glamour. She's usually seen wearing bright, bold colors, body-hugging dresses, the highest of heels, the biggest hair and jewelry, and a whole lot of sparkle.

Since Liano's style consistently includes glitzy, sparkling, body-hugging dresses fit for any drag queen, then having this gold sequin mini as part of your Gina Liano-inspired outfit is an absolute must. Heads will turn in the court room for sure.

To finish off your Liano-inspired look, make sure you accessorize with big, gold, and sparkly earrings that will dazzle any jury.

5. Kyle Richards

Kyle Richards, former child actor and housewife on The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills (and aunt to Paris Hilton), knows fabulous style. She even owns her own Beverly Hills boutique.

Richards often rocks a glamorous bohemian look by wearing long, flowing, elegant dresses, gowns, and caftans, typically paired with large and luxe statement jewelry.

Bethenny Frankel is the controversial Skinnygirl entrepreneur, author, and chef from The Real Housewives Of New York City. But even if you aren't a "skinny girl" like Frankel (and you should never feel like you have to be), you can still take a page out of her fashion book.

Living in New York City, Frankel's style is chic and professional, and involves classic looks, clean cuts, and basic colors (consisting of a lot of blacks, whites, reds, and blues).

Paper Dolls Plus Knot Front Pencil Dress With Knot Detail, $88, asos.com

For a professional like Frankel, clean and classic lines are key. This pencil dress provides a perfect Frankel-inspired look (with a knot detail to make a subtle statement) that is perfect for the New York City high-profile professional.

Skater Trench, $106, asos.com

In NYC, you can't go wrong with black. To finish off your look, throw this trench over your shoulders (Frankel-style), and you'll be ready to take on life in The Big Apple.

7. Kenya Moore

Producer and former Miss USA winner Kenya Moore really kills it when it comes to style. The Real Housewives Of Atlanta star may not technically be a housewife, but she is the self-proclaimed "star" of the show.

Whether she's instigating drama, searching for a baby daddy, or building "Moore Manor," one thing remains consistent: Moore's style is Gone With The Wind fabulous.

Summer Rain, $175, myeleven60.com

Moore often wears long, flowing, fabulous gowns that are completely twirl-worthy. This gorgeous pink dress has a full, flowing skirt and embellished sleeves that would likely make you feel like the beauty queen you are.

Twisted Hoops Earrings, $4.90, forever21.com

Kenya Moore loves wearing big gold hoops, and who can blame her? Gold hoops are a classic, and an accessory every femme should arguably have in their closet. These large, gold hoops are the perfect must-have addition to your aforementioned Gone With The Wind fabulous, twirl-worthy look.

Although the real housewives may not be plus size themselves, it doesn't mean the rest of us big ladies can't rock the same styles. With a little imagination, some serious shopping, and an "I love myself" attitude, you can bring the fashion of The Real Housewives to your own closet. And to anyone who hates on you for it? Girl, bye.
