Ginger Spice Shared A Zig-A-Zig-Ah-Mazing Photo

by Kristie Rohwedder

20 years ago this month, something zig-a-zig-ah-mazing happened: In April of 1996, Geri “Ginger Spice” Horner (née Halliwell), Melanie “Scary Spice” Brown, Melanie “Sporty Spice” Chisholm, Emma “Baby Spice” Bunton, and Victoria “Posh Spice” Beckham (née Adams) filmed the music video for their debut single, "Wannabe." And to celebrate the vid's twentieth birthday, Ginger Spice got all sorts of nostalgic on Instagram: Last Tuesday, Horner shared a pic of the Spice Girls that was taken at the "Wannabe" video shoot (h/t Hello! Magazine). Just a few months after this photo was snapped, the quintet ascended to the top of the pop charts, released a hit debut album, and became one of the biggest musical acts on the planet.

“20 years ago we shot a video for #wannabe,” the "Bag It Up" singer wrote in the caption. “Time flies. I still remembering running around in my Mary Quant platforms, the sparkly leotard I bought from nottinghill market. Awh #younggirlsbigdreams.”

Hashtag young girls big dreams. Please pay me no mind as I simultaneously moonwalk the foxtrot and sob into my old platform Skechers.

Just look at these five icons. These five queens. These five gemstones. These five goddesses.

We were not worthy. We are not worthy.

We'll never be worthy.
