'The Simpsons' Jump On The Lego Bandwagon

by Lia Beck

The Lego Movie is continuing it's reign of reminding people that Legos are totally awesome by teaming up with The Simpsons. As part of the show's 25th season festivities, The Simpsons will air a Lego episode titled "Brick Like Me." In the episode, Homer wakes up in an alternate Springfield where everything is made out of Legos and has to figure out how to return home. What will happen? Will he make it back? Will The Simpsons be made out of Legos forever?! Well, you know how it's going to end, but that doesn't mean it won't look cool.

At first you might think that the Lego episode is promotion for the movie, but because it doesn't air until May 4, it's really just promotion for the brand itself. Although, announcing that they're making the episode a week after the movie was released is sure to help. The Lego Movie is doing pretty darn good anyway — it brought in $69 million in the U.S. in just it's first weekend.

In addition to a full Lego episode, Lego is releasing a Simpsons Lego set which will cost $199.99 and will contain over 2,500 pieces. If you happen to be a big fan of both Legos and The Simpsons, now is time to celebrate.

Other special 25th season episodes included a Halloween episode opening directed by Guillermo del Toro and an upcoming episode in which the show will pair up with Matt Groening's other series, Futurama.
