I will never turn down the opportunity to gawk at a celebrity red carpet event, but something's extra special about the annual White House Correspondents' Dinner. To me, nothing is better than watching my favorite celebs eating dinner in a room together. And let's be honest, I'm also jealous that they get to breathe the same air as the president. Unfortunately, though, most of us will never get to experience this first hand, but that's where Twitter and Instagram come in. Behind-the-scenes photos from celebrities at the White House Correspondents' Dinner on Saturday night are all over the place, and they make the Nerd Prom look even more fun than I imagined.

Basically, it's exactly what you think it is: Famous and politically relevant people in gorgeous gowns and suits, eating what looks like delicious food and having a blast.  Plus, in a way, looking at these pictures is better than actually being there, because you don't have to get off the couch or put on pants. Win/win? I definitely think so, and those of us at home have the added benefit of turning off the TV when the speeches get boring.

Here are some of the best photos that celebs have shared on social media. It's almost like being there! Except way less fancy.

This almost looks fun enough to make me want to get off my couch... Almost.
