This event didn't earn the nickname "nerd prom" for nothing — the outfits at the 2016 White House Correspondents' Dinner are so on point. I'm not exactly surprised considering the ultra stylish guest list this year. Model-of-the-moment Kendall Jenner is slated to attend, alongside fashion veterans like Rachel McAdams, Kerry Washington, and, naturally, First Lady Michelle Obama, who always owns every formal occasion. It's destined to be an incredibly stylin' night.
The fashion at the WHCD is bound to be significantly more tame than at many other red carpet events, but that doesn't mean it can't be incredible. You can expect to see lots of classic silhouettes, bold patterns, and high-wattage embellishments, plus a heavy dose of glamorous patriotism if past dinners are to be believed. Just because we won't be seeing Miley Cyrus in pasties doesn't mean we won't be having fun. I, for one, am always excited to see how celebrities interpret White House appropriate formalwear. Spending an evening with the President and a host of other hugely influential people certainly sounds like an occasion to pull out all the stops to me.
There's something for the politically and fashionably minded alike at this event, so be sure to follow along and check out every single look from the evening's festivities.
Helen Mirren's Prince tattoo brought the whole house down.
The First Lady didn't walk the red carpet, but her outfit is amazing.
Stunner, as always.
Loving that '90s pony, Ken.
YES. YES. YES.
Literally this is just a list of my favorite people.
Abbi Jacobson & Ilana Glazer
Way to literally look like a goddess, Karlie.
These floor length gowns are too good.
The soccer star stuns in lavender.
I assume this bow tie is from his own collection.
Arianna Huffington & DJ Khaled
Are these two friends? I guess so.
Always a power move to wear red on the carpet. Loving that metal clutch, too (it's by Nancy Gonzalez, FYI).
All about that red and white, but mostly blue.
This tiered number is one of my favorite of the night.
See? And paired with David Yurman jewels, this look just shines.
Jada Pinkett Smith & Will Smith
Selfie-taking Jada and Will were probably the biggest hit of the night.
Christy Turlington Burns
Babe 4 ever.
Lala & Carmelo Anthony
Digging that fuschia dress.
Did she get dressed with Kendall?
Such a pretty color dress!
Florals? For spring? Actually, this gown does seem kinda groundbreaking.
Oh, so does this one.
Vivica A. Fox
As the commentators on CSPAN said, "navy is totally a thing."
Best suit of the night? Probably.
The prettiest color on the carpet, for sure.
A flawless LBD moment.
Pretty obsessed with this dress, TBH.
The House Of Cards star brought it big time.
Tom Hiddleston & Carrie Fisher & Carrie's Dog
The winners of the night, obviously.
Loving the blue and white with that fuchsia lip!
Too cute! I'm sure we'll be seeing lots of black and white suits tonight.
