Amber Rose's Talk Show Is Good News For Feminism

by Jordana Lipsitz

Fans make merry, for now is the time to rejoice for your girl Amber Rose has just gotten her own talk show on VH1, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The outlet reported that the weekly series will be produced by Dr. Phil's Stage 29 Productions, and it will cover a multitude of issues like "pop culture, motherhood, relationships, friendships, race, and entrepreneurship." THR also reported it will feature interviews with her celebrity friends. I am actually losing my mind thinking about how fun a Kardashian-Rose interview could be. Losing. My. Mind.

Rose or Muva Rose, as she calls herself, has been in the business for quite awhile now, starting out as a model and moving her way into acting and fashion design. According to the New York Post, she was discovered (and later dated) by Kanye West in 2008 after appearing in "What Them Girls Like." She then married and divorced Wiz Khalifa, whom she shares a son, Sebastian, with.

Rose is a singer, model, actor, and a badass business lady with her own set of emojis called MuvaMojis, but she's also a huge advocate for women's rights. Muva Rose has made her thoughts known on slut shaming specifically, and held a SlutWalk last summer.

She was also in a Funny Or Die video called, "Walk of No Shame," which approached the serious issue in a humorous way, as Funny Or Die is wont to do.

Then, in an interview with It's Not You, It's Men Rose gave her thoughts on another important issue: consent.

If I’m laying down with a man — butt-naked — and his condom is on, and I say, "You know what? No. I don’t want to do this. I changed my mind," that means no. That means f*cking no. That’s it. It doesn’t matter how far I take it or what I have on, when I say no, it means no.

With her history of speaking out for women, I can only assume Amber Rose is going to take a similar vibe into her show. I have high hopes its going to be the girl power-palooza I've been waiting for. With all the male hosts of shows out there, we need some lady power to reset the balance. Bring in Amber Rose!
