15 Celebs Who Perfected Early '00s Summer Fashion

Back in the day, all I wanted was to emulate celebrities who perfected early 2000s summer fashion. Pleated jean mini skirts, platform flip flops, and cowl-neck tops with huge hoop earrings was my ideal look. However, being that I was eleven, and that my parents weren't exactly the types to let me look like I was starring on One Tree Hill my stock was limited. However, that didn't mean that I couldn't dream about looking like Marissa Cooper on The OC. I also definitely had the velour tracksuit game down pat.

Paris Hilton was most definitely the summer style queen back then. Her closet was, and probably still is, full of mini skirts, kitten heels, spaghetti-strapped tops, and skinny scarves. One of the best things about the early 2000s is that style like Hilton's could be worn to any event. Whether it was just a day out shopping at South Coast Plaza, or a nighttime benefit there was no difference: graphic t-shirts were acceptable and capri pants were encouraged. It was just like a five year marathon of the Scooby Doo movies!

Now, while that might sound hellish to some, back then it was perfect to me. Here are a few of the top celebrities I was envious of circa summer 2003.

1. Paris Hilton

Paris Hilton rocks her classic pink, frilled miniskirt, and tank. A classic summer look if I ever saw one.

2. Sarah Chalke

Sarah Chalke in that cropped jean jacket screams pool party.

3. Hilary Duff

Hilary Duff in the floral camo capris, tank, and high heels was the definition of the summer '00s party girl.

4. Sophia Bush

These flared white jeans and this heavily embellished top are 100 percent summer 2004 goals.

5. Jessica Simpson

One of these tie-dyed, boho, peasant dresses was high on the early summer style list.

6. Kirsten Dunst

Platform flip flops were always the key to my heart.

7. Alyson Michalka

Yes, that is an Avril Lavigne tie, but the trend that Aly really nailed is the cropped half vests.
