Some of you are probably relieved to know that contouring seems to be moving out of style and “non-touring” is the new trend taking its place. The latest makeup craze is all about less makeup. But, if you’re not willing to give up contouring completely, you can still show off your features, just in a less obvious kind of way. Find out how to achieve a subtle contour so that it won’t seem like you’re not up to date with the whole less-makeup kind of look. Because contouring is apparently so 2015, you know?

Makeup artist Matthew VanLeeuwen expertly demonstrated how you can achieve a way more natural looking contour using Keke Palmer as his canvas. Not only was her latex dress a stunner at the BBMAs, but her radiant makeup look was, too. VanLeeuwen achieved the look using all e.l.f. Cosmetics, so you’ll definitely be able to recreate this look for yourself and quite affordably, at that!

OK, so here’s how it's done. “For foundation I used two shades of e.l.f. HD Mattifying Cream Foundation, one exactly Keke's shade and the other slightly deeper to deepen temples, cheekbones, and jawline. This creates a more powerful dimension to the skin, especially when on the red carpet,” he said in a press release. So, the key is finding a foundation shade darker than your skin tone to showcase your strongest features.

Her skin is just glowing.

And as you can see, this slightly contoured look isn't over the top, in keeping with the latest "less is more" motto.

1. Daily Hydration Moisturizer

To get her skin nice and hydrated, VanLeeuwen started the makeup process with this moisturizer.

2. Face Primer

Adding a primer, like the one VanLeeuwen used, will help give your face a flawless finish.

Choosing a shade to match your skin tone and then going in with a shade that's a little darker will help give you a barely-there kind of contour.

4. Finishing Powder

You can top off your look with a dusting of this finishing powder.

Summer beauty is all about natural-looking skin. Now, you know how to keep your contour and still have a minimal makeup look, too. A beauty routine like this really is the best of both worlds.
