I know it's super hard to believe, but Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are celebrating two years of marriage on May 24, and it honestly seems like the time has flown by. In their two years of marriage, they have expanded their brood with the birth of baby Saint back in December 2015, and they've continued their reign as one of the most famous couples on the planet, frequently jet setting around the world and making appearances at amazing events (seriously, in the past week alone, Kardashian and West have traveled from Cannes, to London, to Rome. I'm dizzy at the thought!) and seem to be absolutely loving married life. In honor of the couple's two year anniversary, it's time to relive one simply magical moment from their extraordinary nuptials: their first dance as husband and wife.
Everything about the Kardashian-West wedding was as lavish and over-the-top as fans would expect, but who would want it any other way? From Kardashian's dress (custom Givenchy, natch) to the venue (the historic Forte di Belvedere in Florence) and that insanely stunning flower wall that broke the Internet, everything about this affair was gorgeous. But one oft-forgotten moment is the couple's lovely first dance, which mom Kris Jenner shared a video of to Instagram on their one-year anniversary:
The couple danced to John Legend's hit "All of Me," which was pretty much the wedding song of 2014. It's not hard to understand why — it's probably one of the prettiest love songs ever written (is Chrissy Teigen not the luckiest girl ever? I digress...) and makes for a perfect introduction as husband and wife to the couple's adoring friends and family.
Of course, this is Kimye we're talking about, so it's only natural that Legend himself was on hand at the nuptials to sing a live version of the song and play the piano for his close friends West and Kardashian. Legend is a longtime friend of West's — the two met in the early 2000s, when both were just up-and-coming names in the music industry. It's really weird to think about that now, as they're both two of music's heavy hitters, but it's true.
Kanye was still grinding it out when I was grinding it out. We did shows together. He actually opened for me at one point. It was weird, 'cause people didn’t know him at all. He was really well-known in the [music] business because he was producing for everybody, but no one kind of in the general public knew who he was as a rapper.
Of course, the rest is history for both West and Legend, having since coupled up with Kardashian and Teigen, and now the foursome are close friends, sharing parenting secrets and having awesome double dates. So it makes perfect sense why Legend would lend his musical talents to West for the first dance at their wedding. A fitting song for their fairy tale day, indeed.
