Amazing News, 'Power Rangers' Fans!

by Amy Mackelden

As if one new Power Rangers movie isn't exciting enough, it sounds as though there are going to be many more after it. According to Variety on Thursday, the CEO of Lionsgate, Jon Feltheimer said, “We are really, really excited about the Power Rangers movie. We could see doing five or six or seven.” While it's not unusual for studios to start thinking about sequels and trilogies before a movie has even come out these days, it's huge news for the Power Rangers. Lionsgate considering so many sequels has made me even more excited for the movie, and convinced that Power Rangers is the franchise we've been waiting for.

There's a lot of excitement about the new Power Rangers movie, which is due for release on March 24, 2017. One of the big talking points so far is the fact that Elizabeth Banks's outfit as alien Rita Repulsa is very green. The fact that the movie is going to reimagine the origin story of the Power Rangers means that any amount of changes could be made, especially if the movie is part of a much larger franchise that could spawn any number of sequels. Prepare yourselves — it looks as though the Power Rangers are going to be a big part of our lives once again.

While the official synopsis for the new movie doesn't give away a lot, it sounds like all of the classic elements from everyone's favorite show will be present. The new Power Rangers movie will follow "five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove — and the world — is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat." The fact that Elizabeth Banks is playing the evil Rita Repulsa in the film is reason enough to be excited, as the actor is awesome in just about everything.

With 10 months to go until the first new Power Rangers movie is released, it's pretty crazy that Lionsgate are already talking about making up to seven sequels, but I'm on board!
