Who Is Playing Rose Weasley In 'Cursed Child'?

Another day, another Harry Potter fandom freakout — this time because the first images of Ron, Hermione, and Rose in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child just hit the internet. So who is playing Rose Weasley in Cursed Child ? The daughter of Ron and Hermione will be portrayed by Cherelle Skeete, an actress trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama. She has scored several roles in hit television shows, including the film Danny and the Human Zoo, which also happened to star Harry Potter alums Evanna Lynch and James and Oliver Phelps. It's a small world after all!

Skeete has also appeared on the BBC drama Call The Midwife, as well as episodes of the television series Ordinary Lives and The Five. As for her casting in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, it seems to still be hitting home in all the best ways.

"I can’t think about how big it is or I’ll just faint," Skeete said on Pottermore's press release. "Putting on my uniform, ready to go to Hogwarts, and seeing everyone else in their uniform was exciting. I’ve been looking at it every day in the wardrobe department, waiting for the day I can get on the Hogwarts Express."

Skeete will be working with her stage parents Paul Thornley as Ron and Noma Dumezweni as Hermione, and assumably her little brother Hugo, who is not yet pictured in the official cast photos. So who does Rose Weasley-Granger take after, her mother or her father? Don't be fooled by the Weasley grin.

"Rose is ambitious, obviously her mum is Hermione so she’s got a lot to live up to," said Skeete. "I think they’re quite similar in the fact they put a lot of pressure on themselves. And she just wants to do the right thing."
