James Corden Is Coming To Seth Meyers' Show
It's Late Night With James Corden! I mean... The Late Late Show With Seth Meyers! OK, the idea of two late night talk show hosts coming together for sure is confusing. But that's exactly what's going to happen on the night of Wednesday, June 8, when James Corden is a guest on Late Night With Seth Meyers . Prior to Corden's hosting gig for the June 12 Tony Awards, the same time talk show host will be trusting his rival, Seth Meyers, to interview him on his career. But, as strange as Corden's unexpected press stop may be, it's not all that surprising for the talk show hosts themselves.
According to Corden himself in a March interview with Entertainment Weekly, those two are whole-heartedly supportive of one another's careers — even if fans have to make the conscious choice of deciding which one to watch every night.
"Books have been written about late-night wars, and people talk about what a competitive environment it all is, but I must say it’s been such a relief to join the ranks of such a lovely and welcoming group of hosts. When it leaked that I would be taking over this show, the first email I got was from Seth Meyers, saying, ‘Oh my God, this is going to be great!’ Seth and I email every couple of weeks, mostly because we support the same soccer team."
I'll say that we'll be in for one hell of a show on June 8. Here are just some of the things I'm hoping to see from their encounter.
1. Carpool Karaoke
This may be the only chance we have to encounter a Corden and Meyers version of The Late Late Show's Carpool Karaoke segment. These two could drive to work together on June 8 and fight over what music they listen to on the radio. It'll be pure perfection.
2. James Corden's "Take A Break" Segment
I can picture it now. Corden yelling at the crew for not doing things "right," Meyers coming in and trying to explain that it isn't The Late Late Show, and so much more.
3. Seth Meyers' "A Closer Look" Segment
Meyers knows how to do his political coverage. However, instead of taking a closer look at the election, there's a chance that Corden being on the show could change the topic he discusses. Whether that's giving a closer look at other late night talk shows or a closer look at the upcoming Tony Awards, something tells me this episode of Late Night With Seth Meyers may tone done the politics.
4. Some Quality Sketch Comedy
One of the things that Meyers has succeeded in bringing with him from his SNL days is his ability to perform hilarious sketches with a completely straight face. And, with Corden on the scene, odds are these two are going to come up with something amazing.
5. A Revealing Interview
Meyers is great at getting the juiciest scoop out of the people he interviews. With their friendship at the forefront, I'm expecting some inside information on both hosts and their relationship with one another.
6. Impressions Of One Another
Vanity Fair had the late night talk show hosts attempt impressions of one another. However, Corden never got a chance to show us his best Seth Meyers and Meyers never got the chance to show us his best James Corden. Well, now would be the perfect time.
7. A Soccer Game
Corden did mention that they're on the same side when it comes to soccer, right? Which means they should totally be game for their very own soccer game. Or a least some kind of "Who's The Biggest Fan?" challenge.
Late Night With Seth Meyers officially brings James Corden on the show as of Wednesday, June 8. You don't want to miss it.
