Behold The Glory Of The Avocado Emoji

It's been a big year for avocados. So it's no surprise that the avocado emoji on Unicode 9 is basically groundbreaking news. Sure, there are important things going on in the world today, but nothing as fulfilling and long-awaited as the introduction of the avocado emoji. I mean, what have we even been doing all of this time without it? We've been exerting endless energy on typing out the word, suffering thumb cramps, and wasting time talking about it when we could be eating it.

Think about it. Avocado is like a universal favorite for every human. We eat it on our toast. We put it on our faces. We wear pictures of it on our t-shirts. We're all in love with avocados. And yet, up until now, they were completely left out of the emoji game. Thankfully, the Unicode gods listened to the song of our hearts and added them in our wordless lexicon — starting June 21.

And while you might be reading this and thinking, "Wow, is this seriously an article solely dedicated to the avocado emoji? Do people actually care?" I'll be the first to tell you that yes, they do care. People care a whole lot about the friendly vegetable that's actually technically a fruit.
