Miss USA isn't just a title that gets handed down from year to year. Being Miss USA is a full-time job. Being crowned at the competition is followed-up by media appearances and charitable work on behalf of the Miss Universe Organization that produces the pageant. While it is a lot of work, it seems rewarding and if you look at what Miss USA 2015 Olivia Jordan is doing now, she appears to have been enjoying many of the responsibilities and opportunities the title brought her. Jordan entered last year's competition as Miss Oklahoma and on Sunday night will pass the the title of Miss USA on to another young woman, closing the door on a very busy year.
In December 2015, about halfway through her reign, Jordan told Cosmopolitan of being Miss USA, "It's definitely a demanding schedule, it's a full-time job, but it's a great opportunity and a great year and I don't feel drained for energy yet, but maybe I will let you know at the end of the year." According to that interview, her responsibilities have ranged from photo shoots to having meetings with business executives to create sponsorship opportunities, surrounded by a team of 30 people. While her business life has been hectic, Jordan has still found time to enjoy her own company and take things easy as well. Here are just a few snapshots of Jordan's life as Miss USA 2015.
Visiting Haiti
Jordan spent time visiting Haiti in support of Smile Train, a charity that "provides 100%-free cleft repair surgery and comprehensive cleft care to children in 85+ developing countries." Helping others smile is definitely a worthy cause and Jordan seems to have taken that mission to heart. And if you look at Jordan's Instagram page, you'll see that she has spent time working with many other charities as Miss USA this year.
Improving Her Basketball Skills
There's no relation between Olivia Jordan and Michael Jordan, but Miss USA is closing that gap by improving her basketball skills with the Harlem Globetrotters.
Judging Another Pageant
In April, Jordan served as a judge for Binibining Pilipinas, the beauty pageant in the Philippines that crowned Pia Wurtzbach before she become Miss Universe 2015.
Spending Time With Family
Although Jordan has spent most of 2015 being incredibly busy, she's still managed to find time for her family.
Visiting Diagon Alley
Just because Jordan is Miss USA, doesn't mean she's immune to the charms of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. As part of her job as Miss USA, she visited Diagon Alley, stopping by The Leaky Cauldron and Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes.
Cuddling With Her True Love
In between Fashion Week events and doing some social media for Miss USA, Jordan found time for a snack.
And Much More
This tribute video made by Road To Miss USA shows Jordan visiting hospitals, appearing at other pageants, modeling, and more as Miss USA. Clearly, being Miss USA has been a lot of work, but Jordan has been enjoying every minute of it. She told Cosmopolitan that she is "a hustler," and it seems that made becoming Miss USA an easy transition. "I have been living with a crazy schedule for so many years that being Miss USA doesn't even feel crazy to me," she said. Hopefully once her tenure has ended, Jordan will be able to find an equally fulfilling. She has considerable talents, including a degree in Health Sciences from Boston University, so though she may not wear a crown in her next job, she should have plenty of opportunities outside of the pageant world.
