Emison Will Have A Moment In 'PLL' Season 7
Love may not always be the point on Pretty Little Liars, but that doesn't mean that fans aren't fiercely loyal to their Pretty Little Liars ships. Haleb shippers could argue for hours about why Hanna is far better suited to Caleb than Spencer is, and the same rings true for people who would much rather see Spencer kissing Toby than Hanna's ex. One particularly controversial relationship on Pretty Little Liars, however, is the will-they/won't-they one between Alison and Emily, otherwise known as "Emison." Though plenty of fans think Emily should run for the hills rather than be with the former Queen Bee who messed with her heart and head, others cheered when Emison finally had their own steamy makeout moment in Season 5. Unfortunately for Emison shippers, Ali is now married to a British psycho — but all hope might not be lost. According to the Pretty Little Liars ' Season 7, Episode 2 description, "Bedlam" will bring a major Emison moment — even if it's not necessarily romantic in nature.
Ali and Emily had a big friendship moment in the Season 6 finale, as Emily was tasked with caring for Ali after she fell down the stairs. When Ali began seeing hallucinations (which were actually her husband Dr. Rollins and aunt Mary Drake in disguise) Emily was the one who took her to check herself into the mental facility. Emily was right to question Ali's decision, and it seems now Emily will once again be coming to her friend's aid. According to The Futon Critic, here's what the synopsis reveals:
Ali is in grave danger on an all-new episode of Pretty Little Liars, airing Tuesday, June 28 on Freeform. With the fallout of Hanna's abduction still weighing heavily on the PLLs, the Liars begin to grow suspicious of Elliott Rollins as Ali's condition worsens. Tensions rise between Liam, Aria and Ezra as they work on the book together. Spencer and Caleb are on edge, as neither of them want to talk about the awkward elephant in the room. Meanwhile, Emily receives a disturbing phone call and tries to find a way to see Ali.
It sounds like Emily is catching on to Dr. Rollins' less-than-noble agenda and it's about time someone did — but it makes a lot of sense for it to be Emily. Some PLL fans were upset that the series didn't give Emily a love interest in Season 6, but could the real reason behind the choice be that the show was setting Emily up for an endgame Emison romance? Emily sounds like she'll be Ali's "knight in shining armor" in Season 7, and it's worth noting that showrunner I. Marlene King hasn't ruled out Emison as Emily's romantic happy ending. Perhaps with Dr. Rollins out of the picture, Ali will see that the person who has loved her unconditionally has always been Emily.
I was never a big Emison fan, mostly because I thought that Ali treated Emily horribly in their younger years. But now that Ali seems to be a changed person, I could see the show giving the romance its fair shot. Even if Ali and Emily don't end up a couple, this episode's synopsis proves that Emily is a ride or die friend.
