Jon Snow Doesn't Want To Be Resurrected Again

by Alaina Urquhart-White

Unfortunately, we only have a couple more episodes of Game of Thrones left to savor for this season. Next Sunday is Episode 9, "Battle of the Bastards" on Game of Thrones, and we all know that this show tends to save Episode 9 for it's huge moments. Previous seasons have used this particular episode for things like Ned's beheading, The Red Wedding, and Jon's battle with the White Walkers in Hardhome. This season doesn't look like it's going to disappoint because next week is the "Bastard Bowl" so to speak. In the previews for this epic battle, fan saw Jon tell Melisandre that he doesn't want to be brought back to life if he was to die in battle. But, why doesn't Jon Snow want to be brought back to life again?

Obviously I don't have the definitive answer but I imagine that he is not looking to become Beric Dondarrion any time soon. Jon was quite obviously freaked out to return back from death the first time around. He was shaken and confused. When he was resurrected before, he said that there was nothing beyond this life. Even though that is pretty terrifying, he didn't seem to be super stressed out about it. Maybe he feels better prepared for death now that he knows what to expect.

The other side of this may be due to Jon's pride. He is a stand-up dude. If Jon Snow dies heroically in battle, trying to take back his home from the psychotic Ramsay Bolton, I think that he would rather just go down that way. If he is brought back, it would probably somewhat cheapen his honor in his own mind. I think that Jon probably feels like his only option is to get Winterfell back and kill the man who brutalized his sister and currently holds his brother hostage. If he fails to do that, then he probably feels like dying is preferable because failing doesn't seem like it's on his radar right now.

No matter what his personal feelings are on the matter, I really hope Jon doesn't need to be brought back. I want to see him kill Ramsay and take back Winterfell in the name of the Starks. No dying required.
