Barnes & Noble Is Plunging Into The Beauty World

by Eliza Florendo

Barnes & Noble is a magical place: There are always books upon books repping nearly every subject matter, a coffee shop or two to get your caffeine jolt on, a section dedicated to stationary, and now, a Barnes & Noble beauty section at the campus bookstores of a few colleges. Yep, you heard that right. Not only will these locations house the paper goods of our dreams, but now a beauty section, too.

Cheekily called The Glossary (how cute, right?), Barnes & Noble is testing out a "new concept store within Barnes & Noble College bookstores across the country," according to Racked. There, you'll find lip products, Bliss makeup, Living Proof dry shampoo, nail polish, shower gels, and more.

At The Glossary, you can also expect to encounter Smashbox, Burt's Bees, and other beloved beauty brands, Racked reported. What a genius idea, right? With classes, a part time job, a spot on my college's newspaper, RA duties, and a social life, I could hardly find enough time to even buy my textbooks each semester. Now that beauty essentials are being stocked in certain Barnes & Noble college bookstores, the average busy bee collegiate will hopefully have a little more time on their hands.

This may be the prettiest college bookstore I've ever seen, guys. Can I go back in time and demand one of these be started at my school?

Business Wire reported that "The Glossary is a first-of-its-kind, dynamic shopping environment that offers students the opportunity to explore, sample, and purchase a wide variety of mass and prestige beauty products on a growing number of college campuses nationwide."

According to Racked, The Glossary has been rolled out at Emory University, Southern Methodist University, Tulane University, and the College Of William & Mary. University Of California at Riverside will also get the added beauty section in Aug. 2016.

The move only makes sense, considering many a Barnes & Noble was already selling a few beauty products like Burt's Bees lip balms. And with snacks, wrapping paper, calendars, painting sets, and more available, the next logical step had to be beauty and skincare — especially for college kids who don't often have many places to shop on campus besides the bookstore.

Personally, I can't wait to see how this unfolds. When I was stressed during finals, buried under papers and projects, there was nothing as relaxing as taking a break and walking to the bookstore, checking out everything from novels, to water bottles, to journals. So major props to Barnes & Noble. I would definitely hit these bookstores up if I could.
