Krispy Kreme Gives Out Free Donuts To Make Daylight Savings Time More Bearable
There's nothing quite so bleak as being a college student, studying so late on the Saturday night before midterms that it's actually Sunday morning, and glancing at the time only to realize that it just went from 12:59 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. in the space of a minute and you are officially at the library in the middle of the night. Not that it made me want to give up and accept imminent failure or anything. But the point is, daylight savings is annoying. It costs you an hour of sleep in the spring, it makes the sun set way too early in the fall, and it ensures that, twice a year, you're not going to arrive anywhere at the proper time for a full 24 hours. But, now there's at least one bright side to this whole mess (in addition to the impending extra hour of daylight): free Krispy Kreme donuts.
This Sunday, March 9th, Krispy Kreme is bringing us all the much-needed "Lose an Hour, Gain a Donut" event. Basically every adult can get a free glazed Krispy Kreme donut, also known as the distilled essence of pure sugar, this weekend. Which is good, because if there's one thing we all love more than sleep, it's probably donuts.
When you think about it, the whole thing is highly fitting — if we're all going to be sleep deprived, we might as well compensate with a sugar rush.
So far, over 2,500 people have said on Facebook that they will be taking advantage of this promotion. Though, the page also says that if you live in Puerto Rico, Uncasville, CT, or half a dozen different cities in Texas, you are out of luck because those stores won't be participating. Come on, Texas, what do you have against free donuts?
But for everyone else, enjoy your donut! You've earned it.
