Simone Biles Is Going For Gold In Her Main Event

by Caroline Gerdes

United States gymnast Simone Biles may not have competed in the 2012 London Summer Olympic Games like some of her fellow 2016 Olympic teammates, but her impressive winning streak over the past three years has vaulted her to the front of the team. Biles came on the scene in 2013, and is already going for the gold in Rio. So, when is Simone Biles’ big Olympic event?

At just 19, Biles has already broken a record for winning four consecutive national championship titles. In Rio, Biles is expected to take the podium after competing in the women’s all around-final on Thursday, Aug. 11, at 3 p.m. ET. NBC Sports has predicted that there could be two American women to medal in this event, considering Biles’ formative teammates Gabby Douglas and Aly Raisman. But, women's gymnastics fans are predicting a big win for Biles on Tuesday, Aug. 16 — the women’s artistic gymnastics competition. Biles is a favorite for this event as reigning world champion.

While it seems like Biles will be going for the gold in Rio, there’s a lot we don’t know about the soon-to-be Olympic competitor. So, I took to the teen’s Instagram to get to know Biles before watching her win big (fingers crossed) at the Summer 2016 Olympics.
