Is Amy Schumer In The 'Gilmore Girls' Revival?
Lorelai Gilmore and Amy Schumer have a lot in common: they're outspoken, talk a mile a minute, they've done a lot to battle clichés about single women, and they're both smart as whips when it comes to humor. So obviously the Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life teaser featured Lorelai waxing lyrical about the comedian and wondering if Schumer would like her, despite Rory arguing she wouldn't. This, of course, begs the question, will Schumer appear in Gilmore Girls ? Because Lorelai definitely wants her to. And so do I. And so does probably everyone on the planet following that memorable teaser.
Yep, not only does your own personal heroine Lorelai Gilmore have the same taste in comedy as you (possibly leading you to suspect that maybe, just maybe, you have joke dysmorphia and your own repartee is actually far wittier than you'd imagined), but Schumer seemed to like the joke a lot. Sure, who wouldn't? If Lorelai wants to give yours truly a shoutout next teaser round, I wouldn't be mad or anything. Schumer did her thing and delivered the inevitable comeback to Rory's infamous reason why Schumer and Lorelai wouldn't get along ("water sports," for the record).
And, just in case you were anxious that Schumer's active beach lifestyle means that she and Lorelai Gilmore wouldn't get along, rest assured:
So, will Schumer be adding some extra female wit to the already pretty funny team? Of course, Schumer's a busy lady so presumably it would all be contingent on her schedule. Realistically, she'd need to be free in the next couple of months since the Gilmore Girls revival is set to drop on November 25 globally, and they'll need time to edit what they've shot. Schumer's first book The Girl With The Lower Back Tattoo comes out on August 16, so she'll presumably be doing promotion for that soon.
Of course, there's the possibility that she's already shot a scene, but I'm pretty sure we fans would have heard about Schumer dropping by the Gilmore Girls set.
Ugh. So close. I really feel like this could have been a thing in a parallel universe where Schumer wasn't the hottest talent in the comedy world and wasn't booked back to back all year long. Can you even imagine? The banter? The witty back and forth? You guys, it hurts me more than anyone to admit it, but it doesn't look like the two First Ladies of comedy are going to cross paths — at least this time round. So cry me a river for the thing that could have been, the thing that our world isn't quite good enough for: an Amy Schumer/Lorelai Gilmore meeting.
