It's Time To Say Goodbye To 'I Am Cait'

by Emily Lackey

Sad news, Caitlyn Jenner fans. The show that followed around your favorite former Olympian and current reality star, I Am Cait, has been cancelled after just two seasons on E!. But before you go crying into your silk pillowcases at the news, take heart: There are still plenty of opportunities to see Caitlyn Jenner on television. She is apart of the most famous family on TV these days, after all, and, with confirmation that Jenner will be appearing in future episodes of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, I think there’s still plenty of hope in that official statement to keep us all from locking ourselves in our rooms and calling in sick to work for the next three days while we recover.

And thank goodness for it, because I don’t want to live in a world where Jenner isn’t a constant part of it. After two strong and compelling seasons of I Am Cait, I was really getting used to having her in my life on a weekly basis. Thankfully, E! confirmed in an official statement that Jenner “will always remain a part of the E! family, and [they] look forward to continue following her journey as she appears on ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians.”

In addition, Jenner confirmed the ending with the network, taking to Twitter to thank E! and the friends who joined her on her journey over the last two years and on the show.

After a super impressive premiere in July 2015, I Am Cait went on to document Jenner’s journey as she transitioned to presenting as female in front of her family, her friends, and the viewing audience. In Season 2, Jenner hit the road with a number of her close friends to raise awareness of the issues facing individuals who are transgender. The show definitely did important work, and I’m sad to see it go. But I’m also glad to hear that Jenner isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. The end of her show is just the end of one small project in the overall story of her life.
