We Need A Britney Tour & We Need It Now

by Amy Roberts

We're currently mere days away from the release of Britney Spears' new album, Glory, and, from everything we know about it so far, it sounds like it could be her best work in years. Fans have already been treated to the dazzling, pop perfection of songs like "Make Me...," "Private Show" and "Clumsy" (and become instantly smitten with all of them, or at least I have). But what all fans want to know is, will Britney Spears go on tour for Glory?

With the announcement that Spears will be performing at the 2016 MTV VMA's, it definitely feels a great time to be a fan of the pop Queen (she's going to slay that VMA stage this time, right?). But let's not hold back about how we truly feel here, guys, because that VMA performance is only going to tease us into wanting even more performances from the singer. Now, trust me, I'm willing some kind of a tour to happen more than anybody, but we need to be realistic about this — if there will be a Glory tour, then it might not be for some time yet.

First and foremost, there's the simple matter that Spears is currently completing her extended Las Vegas residency (titled Piece Of Me), which first began it's original run in December 2013. The residency is scheduled to finish in February 2017, however, which could obviously free up some of Spears' time and provide the potential opportunity for her to take Glory on tour. But how likely is this?

Well, I'm glad that you asked, friend, because, though Spears herself has yet to provide us with any definite glimmers of hope for an upcoming Glory tour, she did make some positive statements regarding touring earlier this year. In a revealing interview with the Las Vegas Sun, she discussed the perks, and the downsides of her Vegas residency, explaining:

I love doing my show in one place, plus it’s been great because I can have my boys out with me a lot of the time. But, sometimes I do get that itch to travel and tour again. It’s in my blood.

When asked whether she'll be considering any overseas tour dates following the end of her residency, Spears provided a vague, yet optimistic, response:

I hope we can do some touring! It’ll be fun to see my fans from overseas who haven’t been able to make it out to Las Vegas.

Such a tease. There is, of course, also the possibility that she may want to simply enjoy some time off after directly finishing Piece Of Me in Vegas (and it would be well deserved. Creating and marketing an album alongside a performance residency would be enough for anyone to need to hit a beach for a few weeks). However, I think all fans can agree that the singer seems to be extremely driven and focused right now in her career. I mean, just a look at how enthusiastic and confident her social media feeds are right now.

Perhaps most importantly, Spears appears to be supremely proud of the music she's produced for Glory, telling V Magazine, "It’s the best thing I’ve done in a long time." As a result, it feels easy to speculate that she would want to take an album that she's so happy with and proud about on tour so that she can enjoy it with her fans. But up until the pop Queen makes an official announcement regarding a Glory tour herself, then fans will just have to continue to speculate, dream and live in hope. So, come on, don't disappoint us, Brit-Brit — bring us some Glory.
